Former New York City Mayor Eric Adams was viciously booed while he pitched a data center proposal in Wisconsin.
Adams traveled to Wisconsin Rapids on August 1 and spoke at a town hall on a PNK Group-led data center proposal that would be built along the Wisconsin River.
The crowd booed and heckled Adams as he spoke.

Adams has found work in his post-mayoral life as a “business development consultant” for real estate companies, according to The Real Deal.
Many in attendance at the Wisconsin Rapids public library responded negatively to Adams’ appearance, according to video of the event shared online.
“Like it or not folks, data centers are going to be here,” said Adams before the crowd reacted negatively, with one person shouting “Not in Rapids!”
“Put it in your backyard!,” yelled another.
Adams was indicted in 2024 on federal charges of bribery, fraud and soliciting illegal foreign campaign donations, before the Trump administration dropped the charges leading to seven U.S. Department of Justice resignations in protest. Adams then ran for re-election, but dropped out of the race to promote Andrew Cuomo, who ultimately lost to Zohran Mamdani.
Data centers have become a focal point of political discussions in Wisconsin; gubernatorial frontrunners Francesca Hong and Tom Tiffany each have spoken in opposition against data center development, while some communities have considered legislation aimed at slowing development or prohibiting the non-disclosure agreements that often keep details about projects hidden.

The flamboyant former mayor has also embarked on a new venture as a “business development consultant,” hocking a portfolio that includes green rebar and fire retardant.
He recently bragged to The Real Deal about his portfolio and 80% close rate helping firms sell everything from cleaning services to health monitoring technology.
But Adams’ pitchman prowess apparently faltered in Wisconsin, where he spoke on behalf of PNK Group, an industrial engineering and construction company hoping to build a data center on 209 acres along the Wisconsin River.
The site was a former paper mill that closed in 2020, taking 900 local jobs with it.
PNK reportedly said the project would create 50 to 150 permanent jobs but declined to say who would occupy the building.
Locals, however, apparently didn’t cotton to the project — leading to the awkward meeting with Adams.
“Whether we like it or not, folks, data centers are going to be here,” Adams told the crowd.
Audience members — who seemed puzzled as to Adams’ identity until he named himself — didn’t hold back attacking him.
Local officials said no decision will be made on the PNK Group data center proposal until there is more public discussion.
