May 21 (UPI) — A New Jersey resident shared footage of a black bear wandering up to a doorbell camera and triggering the bell with its snout.
Naomi Kuren’s doorbell camera at her home in Sparta, Sussex County, was recording when a pair of bears visited her property earlier this month.
The footage shows one of the bears walk up onto the porch and trigger the doorbell with its nose.
The two bears eventually wandered off, without the door being answered.
New Jersey Fish and Wildlife said black bear sightings have been reported in all of the state’s 21 counties. Residents are urged to prevent encounters with the animals by securing food, trash and any odors that might entice them.
