UPDATE: The Pentagon released footage after announcing the latest strikes against Iran.

WATCH:

The military hit dozens of Iranian targets “to degrade Iran’s ability to continue attacking international shipping flowing through the Strait of Hormuz,” using one-way attack aerial and sea drones for the first time, US Central Command announced.

CENTCOM said in a press release:

TAMPA, Fla. — U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) completed a new wave of offensive strikes against Iran, July 12, hitting dozens of targets at multiple locations with precision munitions to degrade Iran’s ability to continue attacking international shipping flowing through the Strait of Hormuz.

CENTCOM forces struck Iranian military air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats using U.S. fighter aircraft, naval vessels, one-way attack aerial drones, and one-way attack sea drones for the first time.

The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade. Iran does not control it.

U.S. forces are postured and prepared to ensure that freedom of navigation remains available to commercial shipping despite Iran’s continued unwarranted aggression, harassment, threats, and arbitrary declarations.

Iran has condemned the latest round of strikes, saying the US “caused the return of insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz and disruption of international commercial shipping by openly interfering in the process of Iran implementing the necessary arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz,” according to CBS.

Original story:

US forces are launching more strikes against Iran, the fourth round since the collapse of the ceasefire last week.

This comes after Iran attacked a vessel in the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday and targeted neighboring Gulf countries on Sunday.

CBS reported earlier,

Tehran expanded its attacks on Gulf neighbors including Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Jordan and Oman – the nation on the other side of the strait that Tehran has pressed to join in managing traffic there – after the U.S. targeted Iran with strikes Saturday.

Later Sunday, Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency cited the governor of Qeshm island, located near the strait, as saying under a dozen projectiles had been fired at military targets there, with no casualties. There was no immediate U.S. military comment. The largest island in the Persian Gulf is home to about 150,000 people.

IRNA said explosions were also heard in the coastal city of Bandar Abbas and inland, in Hajiabad, a city to the north.

The exchanges came as Iran and the U.S. are nearly at the midway point of the 60-day period of their interim deal aimed at reaching a permanent end to the war.

US Central Command announced the latest attack, directed by President Trump, which started at 5 pm and sought to “continue degrading their ability to attack civilian mariners and commercial ships freely transiting the Strait of Hormuz.”

At 5 p.m. ET today, U.S. Central Command forces began launching more strikes against Iran to continue degrading their ability to attack civilian mariners and commercial ships freely transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The Commander in Chief has directed the strikes to hold Iranian forces accountable.

US forces carried out strikes on approximately 140 Iranian military targets last night in response to Iran attacking a Cyprus-flagged container ship and declaring that the Strait of Hormuz is closed.

Following the third round of strikes, CENTCOM released footage of various attacks during the week of July 6-11, where over 300 Iranian military targets were destroyed.

WATCH:

Targets included Iranian missile and drone sites, naval capabilities, ammunition storage facilities, communication networks, and coastal surveillance locations,” CENTCOM said of last night’s strikes.
