Full statement from SOUTHCOM:
On June 18, at the direction of SOUTHCOM commander Gen. Francis L. Donovan, Joint Task Force Southern Spear conducted a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel operated by Designated Terrorist Organizations.
Intelligence confirmed the vessel was transiting along known narco-trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific and was engaged in narco-trafficking operations.
Three male narco-terrorists were killed during this action.
No U.S. military forces were harmed.
WATCH:
The US military has conducted more than 65 lethal strikes on narco-vessels since last year.
Last month, the US Coast Guard took out three narco-terrorist vessels carrying nearly $45.8 million worth of illicit narcotics near Colombia.
A Coast Guard sniper fired on the drug boats.
“US Coast Guard Southeast crews aboard CGC Tahoma and an embarked helicopter seized approximately 6,085 pounds of cocaine worth nearly $45.8 million Saturday after stopping three vessels off the coast of Colombia,” USCG said.
“The interdiction required disabling fire after warning shots proved ineffective,” they said.
