

A woman was fatally beaten at a communal bathroom at an assisted living facility for the mentally ill in Santa Monica, California, on Saturday night.
Officers were called to The Manor on Saturday evening and discovered a woman suffering from severe injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim has not been identified. Neighbors said she moved into the facility located on Pico Boulevard two weeks ago.
An unidentified suspect has been taken into custody.

More details are beginning to emerge surrounding the death of a woman in Santa Monica.
The woman was found in an apartment building in the 1900 block of Pico Boulevard, near Santa Monica College, around 5:21 p.m. Saturday.
Officers with the Santa Monica Police Department were called to the area for a report of a woman in need of medical assistance, and they arrived to find the victim with significant injuries, the department explained.
She was eventually pronounced dead at the scene by first responders despite life-saving measures, authorities confirmed.
While she has yet to be identified by name, KTLA’s Jennifer McGraw learned Sunday morning that the building where the incident took place is an assisted living facility for mentally ill and developmentally disabled adults. There is one such facility, The Manor, located in the 1900 block of Pico Boulevard.
Residents in Santa Monica are on heightened alert after two murders occurred in one week.
A man was shot and killed in a parking lot near the Santa Monica pier just after midnight last Monday morning.
An 18-year-old was arrested earlier this year for a shooting at the pier that left two wounded.
