Jonathan Davenport picked up $16,000 on the Salina weekend.

What won the race: Scoring his second Midwest LateModel Racing Association sweep of the season, Jonathan Davenport dominated Saturday’s 30-lapper at Salina Highbanks Speedway for a $10,000 payday. Davenport, the national touring champion who made his debut at Salina with a $5,000 victory Friday, took the checkers ahead of Aaron Marrant.

Quotable: “Wow, what a fun track. I don’t know that there was an inch that I didn’t cover on that thing,” Davenport said. “The line definitely moved around and once I caught the lapped cars, they were running two-, sometimes three-wide. So it was a little bit difficult to get by them, but I had plenty of track to do it. So that was definitely fun.”

Key notes: Jonathan Davenport notched his 19th career feature on the Missouri-based MLRA circuit. He also swept April’s MLRA weekend at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo. … At Salina, Davenport also picked up a $1,000 bonus for the best combined Friday-Saturday finish. … A single caution slowed the action on the 14th lap when Brett Hansen stopped in turn three. … The 15-minute feature concluded at 10:35 p.m. … In Saturday prelims, apparent consolation race winner Brandon Morton was disqualified in postrace tech, costing him a feature spot. … Chevy Boyer scratched from the feature.

On the move: Steve Stultz of Peoria, Ariz., started 21st and finished 11th.

Winner’s sponsors: Davenport’s Double L Motorsports Longhorn Chassis is powered by a Cornett Racing Engine and carries sponsorship from Ace Doran, Nutrien Ag Solutions, ASC Warranty, Mark Martin Automotive, Mega Plumbing of the Carolinas, Mount Airy Polaris, Bilstein Shocks, VP Racing Fuels, Dyer’s Top Rods, Go Lithium Batteries and Midwest Sheet Metal.
