Look: Stranded dog rescued from Maryland rooftop

May 13 (UPI) — Police and firefighters in Maryland came to the rescue of a dog spotted stranded atop the roof of a two-story townhouse.

The Baltimore County Police Department said on social media that officers from Precinct 12 in Dundalk responded to the scene Tuesday when a dog was spotted on the roof of a home.

“Once on scene, police officers spoke with a neighboring resident, who allowed them into their home so Officer A. Flores could access a second-floor rear window and climb onto the rooftop,” the post said.

Flores was able to coax the dog into coming to her, and local firefighters arrived to bring the two of them back down to the ground with a ladder truck.

“Officers believe the dog likely exited its residence through an upstairs window that had been left open. Once on the roof, the dog was unable to safely return home because of the steep pitch of the roof,” police wrote.

The dog was taken by local Animal Services for care until its owners can be contacted.
