Aug. 21 (UPI) — Authorities in California ended up calling in a professional for assistance lassoing a loose bull found running along a highway.

The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded alongside the California Highway Patrol when the “large bull” was spotted Tuesday evening along Highway 35 in Half Moon Bay.

Authorities spent several hours attempting unsuccessfully capture the bull, deputies and troopers sought the assistance of Samuel Ramos Palomino, a foreman at Sea Horse Ranch.

Palomino was asleep when authorities reached him shortly after midnight, but he got out of bed and rushed to the scene, despite having to be at work at 4 a.m.

Palomino managed to lasso the bull, but his rope snapped in half.

He then had to use the remaining half of his rope to lasso the bovine a second time. The bull was secured about 2:30 a.m.

“Eventually, the team secured the bull, and Samuel used his expertise to safely load it into his trailer,” the sheriff’s office said. “He went one step further, providing a secure location for the bull until it could be returned home at daybreak.”
