Freedom Center Breaks Story on NJ Democrat Candidate’s Ties to Terror Sheikh

Freedom Center Investigates, a project of the David Horowitz Freedom Center, broke a major story linking a New Jersey Democrat candidate for Congress to an infamous Islamic terror Sheikh.

In an April 24 piece for Front Page Magazine, Daniel Greenfield, CEO of the David Horowitz Freedom Center, was the first reporter to question why New Jersey Democrat and congressional candidate ‘Adam’ Hisham Hamawy testified for the defense in the 1995 trial of Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman, the Egyptian Islamic terror leader linked to the World Trade Center bombing.

Hamawy is an Egyptian Muslim who currently works as a plastic surgeon in New Jersey. Greenfield describes how he has cultivated a “pseudo-patriotic image as a military plastic surgeon” while accusing our military of “war crimes” and “promising to defund the military, abolish ICE, and dismantle the Department of Homeland Security.”

Greenfield brings to light what no other reporter previously did:

“Yesterday, Hamawy appeared to have been in the company of a top Islamic terrorist. Today, he wants to dismantle the Department of Homeland Security, the military and our defenses against Islamic terrorism.”

The Free Beacon and FOX News picked up on Greenfield’s reporting, writing that “dozens of pages of testimony reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon reveal a yearslong relationship between the congressional candidate and the jihadist leader” and noting that “Front Page Magazine first reported on their connection.”

Now stories on Hamawy’s ties to the Terror Sheikh have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Politico, National Review, and other major publications.

Rather than address the controversy, Hamawy’s campaign lashed out at us, telling the media “that the initial story was written in FrontPage Magazine, a website affiliated with the anti-Islam David Horowitz Freedom Center, and called it ‘guilt-by-association attacks on Muslim and Arab candidates.”

Hamawy is predictably blaming “Islamophobia” stating that “As a Muslim, they’re always going to find something to attack.” But he hasn’t been able to adequately explain why one of the most notorious terrorist leaders in the country included him in an 18-hour car ride to a conference featuring multiple notorious Islamic terrorists as speakers including a Hamas recruiter.
