April 7 (UPI) — An Ohio woman with a tradition of playing lottery games with her mother every week found it paid off with a $50,000 prize she initially suspected to be an April Fools’ Prank.

The Loudonville woman told Ohio Lottery officials she and her mother play lottery games every week, and that’s what they were doing March 31 when she bought a $10 $500,000 Bankroll scratch-off at 7-Eleven on South Main Street in Mansfield.

The woman said she started crying after seeing her prize, but told her husband’s grandmother the following day that she was still concerned it might be an April Fools’ Day joke.

The ticket turned out to be no joke when the winner arrived at lottery headquarters to collect her prize.

The winner said her prize money will go toward paying bills and making a down payment on a house.
