What does Wisconsin need more of? If you ask Gov. Tony Evers, Rep. Gwen Moore and Alderperson JoCasta Zamarripa (she’s bisexual) of Milwaukee fuming over the ICE detention of Salah Salem Sarsour, the head of the Islamic Society of Milwaukee, what they need is more of this.
Today, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS), conducted a targeted operation in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to arrest Salah Salem Sarsour, a criminal illegal alien from Jordan suspected of funding terror organizations and lying on immigration forms.
“Salah Salem Sarsour is a terrorist convicted for throwing Molotov cocktails at the homes of Israeli armed forces. This illegal alien from Jordan lied on his green card application to gain legal status in the U.S.,” said Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis. “Thanks to President Trump and ICE, this terrorist is out of American communities. This Administration will always put the safety of the American people FIRST and Make America Safe Again.”
Sarsour first submitted an application for an immigrant visa at the American Consulate in Jerusalem, which was denied due to his convictions in Israel for throwing a Molotov cocktail at the homes of Israeli armed forces and illegally attempting to possess weapons and ammunition.
He ultimately entered the United States in 1993—under the Clinton administration—as a conditional resident. After lying on his application, he became a green card holder in 1998 under President Clinton.
Canary Mission has more background on Salah Sarsour.
A February 12, 1998, Israeli police report quoted Sarsour’s brother, Jamil Sarsour, saying that Salah served eight months in prison in 1995 for his connections to Hamas. According to the police report, Jamil Sarsour also said that while in prison, Salah befriended Hamas leader Adel Awdallah, the West Bank commander of Hamas’s armed wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades.
On November 5, 2001, Salah Sarsour was reportedly listed n an 2001 F.B.I. Action Memorandum as a fundraiser for Hamas in the United States. The memorandum stated that Salah’s “involvement with HAMAS” and his fundraising “activities” for the terror group were through the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development (HLF). The memorandum also stated that Salah’s brother Imad was also a Hamas fundraiser.
On February 12,1998, Jamil Sarsour also reportedly confessed to the Israeli police that he and Salah used multiple checks from their U.S.-based furniture business bank account to funnel $2,000 or $3,000 at a time to Hamas leader Adel Awdallah. Jamil Sarsour said these transactions occurred after Salah was released from prison and that Salah “didn’t want to use personal checks from either one of us so that the government shouldn’t trace the checks back to us personally.”
“How dare federal ICE agents come into our community and unlawfully detain a grandfather, a faith leader, a Wisconsinite!” Jocasta Zamarripa raved.
Gov. Tony Evers tweeted that, “targeting people because of their beliefs or background is wrong. This is clearly about sowing division and fear and doesn’t help make Wisconsin safer. I’m thinking of Mr. Sarsour’s family in this difficult time.”
Targeting people because of terrorism is apparently wrong.
Today, @ICEgov arrested a Jordanian national with a prior conviction for THROWING A MOLOTOV COCKTAIL at the homes of Israeli Forces.
He lied on his immigration application and became a green card holder under President Clinton.
