Watch: Uber Driver Refuses To Let Woman Out Of Car Until She Receives a Tip

A video clip out of the UK shows a female Indian Uber driver refusing to let a woman out of her car until she receives a tip.

The exchange seems so delusional that some have wondered if the whole thing was staged.

“No, I don’t want to tip you, can you just open the door?” the customer says to the driver.

The driver then claims, “No, this is a rule here in this country, you have to give me the tips,” she responds.

There is no “rule” or law in the UK which says a customer has to give a tip for anything, that’s why it’s called a “tip”.

“No it’s not, I’ve never given any other Uber driver a tip, I need to get out,” the passenger responds.

“I don’t care, I need tips because I give you that service,” the driver asserts.

“Well it’s not really been the best service, this car is a mess,” says the female passenger.

The driver then claims her car is clean despite there being rubbish clearly visible, before going on to demand, “Give me the tips, get it out.”

The argument goes on as the driver continues to demand money before letting the passenger leave, who keeps trying to exit the vehicle but the door is locked.

“I need tips, that is a rule, do you understand!” the driver shouts.

“Tips are optional,” responds the passenger, before the driver states, “who says it’s optional, it’s mandatory in this country, you don’t know the rules!”

Presumably, the passenger was eventually able to escape.

Some respondents to the clip said that the driver had basically kept the woman hostage and should be criminally charged.

Others refused to believe that the driver could be so belligerent and speculated that the conversation was all an act.

Unlike America, there is no strong tipping culture in the UK.

Tipping a taxi driver is quite rare and very unusual for an Uber ride.

Unlike for example black taxi cabs in London, Uber doesn’t exactly have the best reputation for the quality of its drivers or their customer service skills, as is proven by the clip.

Meanwhile, another form of cultural enrichment in the UK has sparked much debate after the following clip went viral.
