Aug. 19 (UPI) — Police in Texas were called to wrangle an unusual pet described as “fast, furry and refusing to cooperate” — a lemur.
The Belton Police Officer’s Association said on social media that officers were dispatched recently to a report of a lemur on the loose.
“Suspect was described as fast, furry and refusing to cooperate,” the post said.
The small primate was “quickly detained and returned to his owner,” police wrote.
Texas allows lemurs, small primates native to Madagascar, to be kept as exotic pets without special permits, but sellers must be licensed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
