Aug. 12 (UPI) — The San Diego Zoo Safari Park is celebrating World Elephant Day with a special look at the African savanna elephants living in its Elephant Valley.
The park shared a video of 12,000-pound male elephant Sdudla splashing around Elephant Valley’s watering hole while the herd’s females take dust baths in the background.
The video also includes footage of Sdudla taking a walk on land and video of the elephants interacting with each other.
The footage was released to coincide with World Elephant Day on Wednesday.
The San Diego Zoo’s YouTube channel is also kicking off its “Meet the Herd” series on Wednesday.
The San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance has been doing conservation work in Northern Kenya for over a decade. The SDZWA’s activities include helping the Reteti Elephant Sanctuary fund a mobile veterinary unit that performs crucial care for orphaned elephants.
