March 2 (UPI) — Police in Washington were called out on a report of a “determined beaver” attempting to cross a busy road “with zero regard for public safety.”
The Redmond Police Department said on social media that officers responded last week to a report of a suspicious subject described as a “determined beaver” attempting to cross the road near the intersection of Avondale Road Northeast and Northeast 95th Street with zero regard for public safety.”
The department shared a combination of bodycamera footage and cellphone footage captured by a witness.
“Despite clear verbal commands, the subject refused to comply and continued evading officers, demonstrating blatant disregard for crosswalks, traffic signals and basic roadway safety rules,” the post said.
The officers were eventually able to successfully coax the beaver into the nearby woods.
“During the incident, the beaver did deploy his tail in a brief act of resistance, slapping one officer’s hand. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. No arrests were made, and no citations were issued,” police wrote.
“We are told the suspect lacks both ID and a driver’s license. Please use caution in this area, especially at night. This individual has shown a clear pattern of ignoring traffic laws.”
