For anyone who is not aware, Andrew Branca is a lawyer and legal scholar who specializes in cases of self defense. He hosts a regular podcast on the subject and related issues as well as maintaining a blog that addresses the topic.

He has been following the Karmelo Anthony case closely and correctly predicted a guilty verdict. Now that Anthony has been found guilty and sentenced to 35 years, Branca is offering more insight on the case.

This evening, someone sent him a tweet from attorney Robert Barnes, who raised a few questions that he claimed could possibly lead to a reversal. Branca addressed each one, refuting them easily.

He notes that there is no guarantee on the racial make-up of a jury, nor are there any guidelines on how long it takes to seat one. The same goes for length of the opening statements and holding trial days on Saturday.

Branca ultimately suggests that if Barnes knows of actual case law to back up his claims that he should share it, saying that he is open minded, but ultimately claims that he ‘just doesn’t see’ the verdict being reversed.

Watch it all below:

It has been surreal to watch protesters outside the courthouse acting as if their behavior is going to overturn a legal case heard and decided by a jury.

There are certain situations where protesting is completely useless, and this is one of them.

Karmelo Anthony is going to prison and no amount of activism is going to change that fact.
