Feb. 12 (UPI) — Colorado sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a “kangaroo” on the loose in a residential neighborhood and found a wallaby with an Instagram following.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday on social media that deputies “recently responded to a call no one had on their bingo card — a kangaroo on the run in a Highlands Ranch neighborhood.”
They arrived in the neighborhood to find the animal was already being returned home by its owners.
“Turns out the suspect was Charlie the Wallaby, who is very much real and very well known (yes, he has his own Instagram),” the post said.
The deputies were welcomed into the owners’ home to visit with Charlie.
“I’m not going to lie, this is going to be the highlight of my year,” a deputy says in body camera footage.
