April 22 (UPI) — Authorities said a horse that escaped Wednesday from the Oklahoma City Fairground and went running dangerously close to a busy highway was safely wrangled.
The Oklahoma City Police Department confirmed the horse escaped from the fairground just after 5:30 a.m. and was spotted at the side of Interstate 44, near 10th Street.
The equine was wrangled near Northwest 19th Street and Grand Boulevard. An officer was able to get close to the horse and tie it to a nearby post.
Grand Boulevard was closed temporarily while rescuers worked to load the horse into a trailer for transport back to the fairground.
Authorities said it was not yet known how the horse, which was not injured, managed to escape.
