Dec. 8 (UPI) — A serial Guinness World Record-breaker teamed up with his young son to earn the title for the fastest time to clear Hungry Hungry Hippos by a team of two.
David Rush, an Idaho resident who holds the most concurrent Guinness World Records titles, said his son, Peter, approached him a few months ago to inquire about breaking a record as a father-son duo.
“We sifted through ideas, explored categories and looked for something that was not only achievable, but fun and something that we could truly enjoy together,” Rush wrote online. “Eventually we found it: The Guinness World Records title for the fastest time to clear Hungry Hungry Hippos (team of two).”
The duo started practicing to beat the previous record of 8.91 seconds, and soon discovered the title was within reach.
“With cameras rolling, hearts pounding, and that familiar mix of nerves and excitement, we launched into our official attempt,” Rush said. “After so many tries we got it in just 5.8 seconds. We cleared the board and claimed the Guinness World Records title — Peter’s very first.”
Rush said he and Peter “created a memory that will outlast any record.”
