Watch: Escaped cow wanders University of Illinois campus

April 30 (UPI) — A cow escaped at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and went for a self-guided tour of the campus and a neighboring cemetery.

Patrick Wade, the school’s director of executive communications and issues management, confirmed the cow escaped while being unloaded from a trailer outside the College of Veterinary Medicine’s Large Animal Clinic about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Multiple witnesses captured video of the cow as it wandered through the campus and the Mount Hope Cemetery.

Wade said personnel pursued the cow and were able to corner it near Foellinger Auditorium about 5:30 p.m.

The bovine was safely captured by 6 p.m. and examined by veterinarians.

“She sustained some superficial injuries during the incident, but it is not expected that she will require additional treatment. Our priority is always the humane treatment and wellbeing of animals in our care. No person was seriously injured during the event,” Wade told WCIA-TV.
