Watch: Connecticut farm owner searching for escaped peacock

April 30 (UPI) — A Connecticut woman is searching for a peacock that escaped from her farm more than a week ago and has since been spotted around town.

Rebecca Allen, owner of Green Acres Farm in Enfield, said the 2-year-old peacock escaped from his coop when strong winds blew the door open.

“We had no idea he got out until we saw him fighting with the other male peacock that free-ranges on the farm,” Allen told WTIC-TV. “Because of that, he took flight and landed high in the trees in the woods, and I haven’t seen him since.”

Peacock sightings have since been reported around town, most recently near Elmore Road on Wednesday.

Allen said she is concerned for the bird’s safety, especially with local predators including coyotes, owls and hawks.

She is asking neighbors to continue reporting any sightings on Facebook.

“They are roamers, so he could just keep going,” she said. “I’m not too hopeful about getting him back, but I would love to. He’s a uniquely colored peacock, and he did hatch here.”
