April 14 (UPI) — A zebra named Zeus escaped from his owner’s property in Northern California for the second time in just a few days.
Placer County Animal Services said Zeus, a legally-owned zebra, escaped from his owner’s Lincoln-area home on Monday and was safely found on a road just north of Lincoln later in the day.
The California Highway Patrol’s Auburn office confirmed the striped equine was returned home after being located along West Wise Road.
Zeus previously escaped Friday amid stormy weather and was kept overnight by animal services before being returned home Saturday.
Officials said Zeus’ repeat escapes might be due to the animal still adjusting to his recent arrival at his new home.
