Watch: 42-year-old landmark hotel imploded in Texas

June 8 (UPI) — A 19-story landmark hotel in Arlington, Texas, was demolished to make way for a new luxury resort, and the implosion took less than a minute.

The former Sheraton Arlington was imploded Saturday morning before a crowd of onlookers in the city’s Entertainment District.

The Sheraton was built in 1984 to serve attendees at the nearby Arlington Expo Center, which is now known as the Esports Stadium Arlington.

The 311-room hotel was demolished to make way for a new luxury hotel development, Americana by Loews. The 507-room facility will be Loews’ third property in the Entertainment District.
