Virginia Dems got two pieces of bad news: their senate president pro-temp was raided by the FBI over her drug business and their unconstitutional gerrymandering that would eliminate representation for 46% of the state was struck down by the state Supreme Court.
The Virginia State Senate voted 21 to 18 on a party line vote to begin a gerrymandering process that would turn the state’s 6 Dem to 5 GOP delegation into a 10 Dem and 1 GOP delegation.
There’s no way to do something like that without disenfranchising 46% of the state. And on the ballot, the proposal to disenfranchise 46% of the state won by 51% to 48%.
Democrats claimed that this was ‘democracy’, but it’s the old definition of democracy of the 51% of the wolves voting which of the 49% of the sheep to have for dinner.
Now that the court struck down its efforts to disenfranchise 1 out of every 2 voters, the Dems are howling about ‘democracy’ and ‘disenfranchisement’.
How dare you take away our right to take away your rights!
“This April, millions of Virginians from every corner of the Commonwealth participated in our democratic process and cast their ballots in good faith. At a moment when voting rights are under sustained attack across the country, the Supreme Court’s decision sends a deeply troubling message. Across the nation, we are witnessing a systematic dismantling of electoral integrity, all for the sake of partisan advantage,” Lt. Gov Ghazala Hashmi, the state’s first Muslim Lt. Gov whined. “Now, in a 4-3 decision, the Supreme Court of Virginia has told voters in the Commonwealth that their voices can simply be discarded. This decision does not exist in isolation. It comes amid years of assaults on fundamental civil rights, the battles for voting rights, escalating hyperpartisanship, and coordinated efforts to erode public trust in democratic institutions. These actions disenfranchise voters and weaken the very principles of our country.
What’s hilarious about this is Hashimi crying because her proposal to discard the voices of half the state, to take away their voting rights, in the name of hyperpartisanship which making elections a mockery was struck down.
Like the rest of her colleagues, the Islamic leftist is using the language of democracy and civil rights to attack and destroy them.
“Today the Supreme Court of Virginia has chosen to put politics over the rule of law by issuing a ruling that overturns the April 21st special election on redistricting,” AG Jay Jones complained while actually putting politics ahead of the rule of law. “This decision silences the voices of the millions of Virginians who cast their ballots in every corner of the Commonwealth.”
The thing those voters voted for was to silence the voices of 46% of the state.
“More than three million Virginians cast their ballots in Virginia’s redistricting referendum, and the majority of Virginia voters voted to push back against a President who said he is ‘entitled’ to more Republican seats in Congress with a temporary and responsive referendum. They made their voices heard,” Gov. Abigail Spanberger complained.
1.6 million voters voted to eliminate the voting rights of 1.5 million Virginia voters so that their voices would not be heard.
Pretending that’s democracy is the North Korean sort of democracy.
