“I went to my parents to do the deed. Kill them.”
Footage of Mia Bailey—a trans-identified male from Utah who pleaded guilty to killing both his parents—has shown him confessing to police in an interrogation that he blamed the brutal killing on his mother for supposedly thwarting him from getting sex change surgery.
Bailey, 30, detailed how he killed his parents at their southern Utah home while speaking to Washington City police in June 2024.
He was $20,000 in debt from the different treatments such as laser hair removal and other medications, Bailey said in the interrogation.
According to Bailey, he was going to get sex change surgery until his mother tried to interfere and stop the surgery from happening. “I had one thing going on and she took that away from me,” Bailey told police. This is despite Bailey being 28 at the time, and being in control of his own medical choices.
When police asked about how his mom was “in control” of his medical decision even though he was 28 years old at the time, he responded, saying that his mom was “trying to sabotage” the surgery but that he “didn’t get the details” of what his mom said to the social worker.
He said that same day “enough was enough.”
“I went to my parents to do the deed. Kill them,” he described. “It was spur-of-the-moment. I don’t regret it. I hate them. That was the last straw.” He later went to a pawn shop to buy a gun to carry out the killing.
Bailey recounted how he shot around 12 rounds at his mother and father at their home but the mother was alive after the initial shots. Bailey said his mother was choking and making noises so he “shot her again” to finish the job.
Bailey was later nabbed after an hours-long manhunt and he has been sentenced to two 25-years-to-life sentences after pleading guilty in December.
