UFC Comes To The White House South Lawn, And Josh Hokit Steals The Night With A Wild Michelle Obama Line

President Trump turned the White House South Lawn into a fight venue, and one heavyweight made sure the card had a moment nobody could miss.

UFC Freedom 250 brought a live mixed martial arts spectacle onto the South Lawn with the president cageside for the action.

Josh Hokit defeated Derrick Lewis by second-round stoppage, then grabbed the microphone for a post-fight interview that quickly changed the conversation.

The clip shows Hokit dropping the line from inside the Octagon:

Standing in the Octagon after the win, Hokit shouted the Michelle Obama line as the White House crowd reacted around him.

That was Hokit’s quote, delivered as a post-fight mic moment. The report here is that he said it, not that the remark has been independently proven.

The win itself was real and dominant.

The Houston Chronicle laid out the fight result and the unusual White House setting:

Josh Hokit stopped the 41-year-old Houston fighter with a barrage of punches late in the second round to win the battle of heavyweights on the UFC Freedom 250 card held on the south lawn of the White House to celebrate President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday and the country’s upcoming 250th anniversary.

After a couple minutes of the fighters feeling each other out, Hokit took Lewis to the ground midway through the first round and kept him there, raining down punches. Hokit tried to get a submission with an armbar in the final seconds of the first round, but he didn’t execute it properly and Lewis survived for another round.

In the second round, Lewis fought off a takedown but quickly ran out of gas as Hokit picked him apart with punches. Lewis threw a few desperate punches, hoping for a home run, but a Hokit right hand made him double over and Hokit put him on the mat where he threw a few more punches before referee Herb Dean stepped in to stop the fight with 51 seconds remaining in the second round.

When the fight was over, Hokit walked out of the octagon and gifted a chain to Trump, who was sitting cageside.

Lewis is a fan favorite and the UFC’s career knockout leader, which made the stoppage a serious statement for Hokit.

But the political electricity around the card was impossible to miss.

President Trump hosting UFC at the White House is exactly the kind of American spectacle that makes the usual pearl-clutchers lose their minds.

Hokit won the fight first. Then he made sure his post-fight interview would be remembered too.
