According to a report from The Washington Post, President Donald Trump has revealed updated images of a special U.S. passport design that prominently includes his likeness to commemorate the 250th anniversary of American independence.
The State Department described the new document as one that “boldly honors” the president and the nation’s founding. The commemorative passport, informally branded as the “Patriot Passport,” maintains all standard security features while incorporating customized artwork and enhanced imagery tied to key moments in U.S. history.
A rendering shared by the White House and posted by Trump on social media shows a sample passport page with the president’s portrait—depicting him standing stern-faced with fists on the Resolute Desk—set against the text of the Declaration of Independence.
Another page features John Trumbull’s iconic painting of the Founding Fathers signing the Declaration. The design also includes Trump’s signature in gold and a “250” emblem marking 250 years since 1776.
Trump highlighted the new passport in a post, referring to it as “The U.S.A.’s New Passport, which says, ‘Welcome, but be good!’” The phrase does not appear in the shared images, but his message underscored a theme of patriotic welcome with expectations of good conduct.
The limited-edition passports will be available starting July 6 at the Washington Passport Agency on a first-come, first-served basis for in-person appointments, with no additional cost. Supplies are expected to be limited, and online or other locations will continue issuing the standard passport design.
