WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that the U.S. military has established a full naval blockade of the Ohio River and placed Kentucky under heightened alert after receiving “very credible, very disturbing” intelligence that Rep. Thomas Massie is actively developing a nuclear weapon.
According to White House officials, the operation—dubbed “Operation Lone Wolf Liberty”—includes Navy patrol boats, Coast Guard cutters, and several Ohio-class submarines repositioned upriver. Air Force assets have been placed on standby at bases in Indiana and West Virginia for potential precision strikes on “certain artisanal workshops in the northern Kentucky region.”
“Tom’s a good guy, very smart, loves the Constitution maybe a little too much,” Trump said during an impromptu press availability. “But we can’t have some rogue Kentucky congressman building nukes in his barn. Very destabilizing. Bad for the neighborhood. We’re going to solve this problem quickly and beautifully.”
Pentagon sources confirmed that strike packages have already been drawn up targeting Massie’s residence, his district office, and several suspected “high-radiation sites” including a Home Depot in Fort Mitchell and a suspicious storage unit in Gallatin County.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, a Democrat, offered measured support for federal intervention while quietly evacuating state assets from Frankfort.
“While we value Rep. Massie’s service, public safety must come first,” he said. “We ask all citizens to report any unusual glowing or mushroom cloud activity immediately.”
Massie himself responded via a terse statement released from an undisclosed location:
“The President is overreacting. This is a clear violation of states’ rights and the Posse Comitatus Act. Also, I’d like to remind everyone that Article I, Section 8 does not grant Congress—or the executive branch—authority over my garage.”
House Republican leadership appeared divided. Speaker Mike Johnson called for calm while privately urging members to distance themselves from Massie. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) issued a statement warning that “bombing Kentucky to stop one man from exercising his God-given right to enrich uranium is not what the Founders intended.”
At press time, satellite imagery showed increased activity at Massie’s property, including what analysts described as “a suspiciously well-ventilated shed” and a large Amazon delivery of “miscellaneous metal goods.”
Trump posted on Truth Social: “If Tom builds it, we may have to take it. Sad! But necessary. Make America SAFE Again!”
