President Donald Trump purchased a red Tesla Model S on Tuesday outside the White House to show confidence in the American electric automaker after it has seen the value of its stock take a major hit in recent weeks.
“This is a different panel than I’ve ever had, everything’s computer,” Trump said while sitting inside the vehicle. “That’s beautiful. Wow.”
“You think Biden could get into that car? I don’t think so,” he later quipped.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who is a senior adviser to Trump in the White House, said at the event that “as a function of the great policies of President Trump and his administration, and as an act of faith in America, Tesla is going to double vehicle output in the United States within the next two years.”

Trump said that he was buying the car because Tesla was a “great product, as good as it gets.”
He said that he was also buying because of how Musk has been treated in recent weeks for trying to help eliminate wasteful spending from the government.
“I just want people to know that you can’t [be] penalized for being a patriot and he’s a great patriot,” Trump said. “And he’s also done an incredible job with Tesla.”
Trump said that Musk’s actions in the government are helping to rebuild the country and that he has been disturbed by the economic warfare that has been waged against Tesla as a result.
“I’m going to buy one,” Trump said. “Now, here’s the bad news: I’m not allowed to drive because I haven’t driven a car in a long time and I love to drive cars but I am going to have it at the White House and I am going to let my staff use it.”
