Tributes paid to ‘amazing’ men aged 19 and 20 who died on Yr Wyddfa

Tributes have been paid to two men aged 19 and 20 who died after being reported missing on Yr Wyddfa.
They have been named locally as Eddie Hill, 20, and Jayden Long, 19, from Norfolk.
Concerns about their welfare were first raised on Wednesday which prompted a search by mountain rescue teams despite “challenging” conditions.
Jayden’s sister, Josie, described him as an “amazing, kind and caring big brother” in a post on Instagram.
The Eastern Daily Press said Eddie’s brother Harry described him as a “beloved son” and “the most amazing brother” in a post shared on social media.
“Words cannot describe the pain that me and my family and friends are going through at the moment.
“He is the most beautiful boy inside and out and he will be missed dearly.”
Josie wrote that her brother was “doing something he loved and was taken from us too soon”.
“I cannot put into words how hard this is for me and everyone who knew Jayden.”
Heather Jones, Llanberis Community Council clerk, said she wanted to pass her condolences to the families of both men and paid tribute to the dedication of the search teams.
“We are thankful for their services as we know that it is also very traumatic for them,” she said.
She advised people going into the mountains to take extra care.
“What we’d like to say is, please be very safe when you go up [the mountains].
“Conditions are really bad.
“If they are bad here in the village of Llanberis, I can tell you they are tenfold up on the mountain.”

Jurgen Dissmann, chairman of Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team, said despite the snow and ice, search teams worked through the night to try and find the pair.
“Despite the determined and sustained commitment of everyone involved, we are deeply saddened that, despite all efforts, the outcome was not what we had hoped for.”
Aberglaslyn Mountain Rescue Team also took part, along with a RAF Mountain Rescue Team and HM Coastguard personnel.
