Since White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced she would be leaving the post earlier this month, there has been widespread speculation regarding her replacement.
One name that has consistently topped the list, including in the online betting community, however, just announced she won’t be taking the job.
As Fox News reported:
As speculation continued to swirl over whom President Donald Trump would tap to succeed Leavitt, bettors on prediction market platform Kalshi began favoring Alina Habba for the role.
Habba, who serves as senior adviser to the attorney general for U.S. attorneys, was previously floated for the position after Trump won re-election.
Bettors on Kalshi gave Habba a 35% chance of being named Leavitt’s replacement at the time before she publicly dismissed the speculation.
Here’s some of the reaction her post received:
We understand Alina. We get it that you’re not working to get the WH Press Secretary job. It’s just another reason why you are our #1 choice.
Well, that and that we have seen you “come at them.” And, we love that about you!🇺🇸💪🇺🇸💪🇺🇸💪— Wisdom of Age (@ageofwisdomwoa) August 19, 2026
I wish it were you. You were at the top of my list when I heard the news.

This reply is the exact reason why we need you to be the White House press secretary. I would fucking enjoy watching you cook these media assholes every single day for pure entertainment.

CNN recently provided this report about behind-the-scenes discussions regarding Leavitt’s replacement:
President Donald Trump is weighing relying again on a rotating cast of Cabinet officials to handle press briefings for an indefinite period following the departure of press secretary Karoline Leavitt later this month, three sources familiar with the planning told CNN.
The tentative plan comes amid a seemingly wide-open race to fill Leavitt’s role, with Trump still in the earliest stages of deciding who should take one of the White House’s most critical and visible posts. Leavitt has said she plans to vacate the position at the end of August.
