June 30 (UPI) — A North Carolina man said a mysterious instinct to buy a specific lottery ticket lead to his winning a $1 million top prize from the scratch-off.

Marston resident Everett Cooper told North Carolina Education Lottery officials he was at CAPL Retail on South Main Street in Laurinburg when a $10 Cashword King scratch-off ticket captured his attention.

“Something just told me to get that ticket,” he said. “I had that feeling.”

Cooper said he has purchased crossword-style tickets in the past.

“I like to have a coffee, take my time and enjoy myself when I play,” he said.

His most recent ticket ended up being a $1 million top prize winner.

Cooper said he plans to use his prize money to help his family and his church.
