Spain soccer forward Ferran Torres drew attention during his country’s World Cup victory parade on Monday after appearing in a red hat bearing the slogan “Make Spain Great Again.”
Torres, who scored the winning goal in Spain’s World Cup final victory on Sunday, was filmed aboard the team’s open-top bus as it traveled through central Madrid.
Television cameras first showed him wearing the cap backward before later capturing the slogan clearly displayed on the front.
Video from the celebrations showed Torres draped in a Spanish flag as thousands of supporters lined the streets to welcome home the newly crowned world champions.

The appearance came one day after President Donald Trump presented Spain’s players with their winners’ medals and the World Cup trophy during Sunday’s post-match ceremony.
Despite speculation on social media ahead of the presentation, Spain’s players greeted Trump during the ceremony and accepted their medals before lifting the trophy.

Footage of Torres’ hat quickly spread online following Monday’s parade, with the slogan echoing Trump’s famous MAGA slogan.
Torres capped Spain’s World Cup run by scoring the decisive goal in Sunday’s final, securing the nation’s second FIFA World Cup title.
The medal ceremony came against the backdrop of increasingly strained relations between Trump and Spain’s far-left Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.
In recent months, Trump has repeatedly attacked Sánchez over his refusal to increase NATO contributions, support for mass illegal immigration and failing to support the U.S. in the ongoing conflict against Iran.
However, he insisted on Monday that he had “no tension” with the current Spanish premier.
“I spoke to Spain and I congratulated them on having a great team,” Trump told reporters.
”I really spoke to a lot of people. I have no tension with him. I have no tension with anybody.”
