Saudi Arabia has condemned Iranian strikes on US-allied Arab states surrounding Iran, including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait and Jordan and has vowed to “provide all its resources to assist them in any measures they take” against Iran. This comes after the US and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran early on Saturday.
In a statement following Irans retaliatory strikes, Saudi Arabia said, “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia condemns and denounces in strongest terms the blatant Iranian aggression and the flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, and Jordan.”
“The Kingdom affirms its full solidarity with and unwavering support for the brotherly countries, and its readiness to place all its capabilities at their disposal in support of any measures they may undertake. It also warns of the grave consequences resulting from the continued violation of states’ sovereignty and the principles of international law,” the statement added.
Following strikes from the US and Israel on Iran, the Iranian regime launched retaliatory strikes at US naval bases in various Arab states in the Middle East. State media in Iran claimed that one person was killed from the retaliatory strikes in Abu Dhabi, but did not give any details, per the Jerusalem Post.
Kuwait, Qatar, the UAE, and Jordan have also said they intercepted Iranian missiles. This comes after President Donald Trump announced the join US-Israel strikes against Iran early on Saturday morning.
“A short time ago, the United States military began major combat operations in Iran. Our objective is to defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime. A vicious group of very hard, terrible people. Its menacing activities directly endanger the United States, our troops, our bases overseas, and our allies throughout the world,” Trump said.
“To the members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard, the armed forces and all of the police, I say tonight that you must lay down your weapons and have complete immunity. Or in the alternative, face certain death. So, lay down your arms. You will be treated fairly with total immunity, or you will face certain death. Finally, to the great proud people of Iran, I say tonight that the hour of your freedom is at hand. Stay sheltered. Don’t leave your home. It’s very dangerous outside. Bombs will be dropping everywhere. When we are finished, take over your government. It will be yours to take. This will be probably your only chance for generations,” he later added.
