July 2 (UPI) — A South Carolina man said 40 years of buying lottery tickets finally paid off when he scored a $20,000 Mega Millions prize on his “lucky day.”
The Grand Strand resident told South Carolina Education Lottery officials he is a regular lottery player, bit he doesn’t normally play Mega Millions.
“I’ve been playing the lottery for 40 plus years,” the man said. “The excitement was definitely there when I won.”
The player said he decided to take a shot at Mega Millions on a whim during a visit to the Publix grocery store on Oakheart Road in Myrtle Beach.
The quick pick ticket delivered a big prize in the June 5 drawing that the winner initially thought was $400, but soon realized it was actually $20,000.
“It was my lucky day,” the winner said.
