Aug. 17 (UPI) — A South Carolina woman running a lottery errand for her dad decided to grab a scratch-off ticket for herself and ended up winning $500,000.

The Midlands woman told South Carolina Education Lottery officials she stopped at the Quick Corner store on Bread Street in Sumter to pick up a scratch-off lottery ticket requested by her dad.

The woman decided to buy a $10 Cash Money game for herself, and was shocked to scratch off a $500,000 prize.

“I was speechless,” she said.

The winner said her father didn’t win his own big prize, but he was happy for her good fortune.

She said her prize money will go into savings to help out her family in the future.

“I won, but my family won too,” she said.
