In the suburbs of Houston, Texas, there are allegedly Chinese women along with their families who are waiting to give birth so they can bring American citizen babies back to China with them, according to a new report from the Daily Wire following up on a lawsuit brought by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in April.

The De’Ai Postpartum Care Center in Houston, which operated the birth tourism homes in the suburbs, has been accused of “exploiting birthright citizenship by unlawfully facilitating the invasion of Chinese nationals … for the sole purpose of giving birth,” the lawsuit said.  The center has allegedly coordinated and facilitated the births of 1,000 American-born babies.

When the outlet knocked on three doors belonging to the center, a man in a “Make America Cowboy Again” shirt answered at one of the addresses. He identified himself as Lai Wan Lin-Chan, a defendant in the lawsuit brought by the state.

When asked about the lawsuit, he said that the center was trying to lawyer up and then shut the door in the reporter’s face. He ignored more questions about the lawsuit and then said, “I’m sorry I can’t give you any information now.” After coming back out, he asked for the reporter’s ID.

The report about the birthing tourism center comes as there have been concerns that Chinese nationals are using birthright citizenship to enable their children to interfere in the American political system after being raised in China into adulthood.

One of the recent TikTok videos from the center says that Chinese women should apply for a tourism visa “before pregnancy” because the US government “will strictly investigate birth tourism.” The lawsuit from the state says the center “claims to offer a variety of options for tourism while expectant families await the birth of their child.”

The services offered by the center include a “luxury chauffeured black-car service across the Houston area for its high-paying guests, purportedly to visit the variety of different locales advertised on its social media page, including the spring bluebonnets in Brenham, Texas, the Houston Rodeo, Christmas light shows in Houston, and the Louvre Couture exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts,” the lawsuit states.

The Daily Wire reported that neighbors have had little interaction with the residents of the three homes the birthing center operates. The neighbors said that multiple cars are sometimes jammed into the driveways all at once, indicating a high number of people staying at the center.

“I’ve seen this in Asian households, like a bunch of family members living there. That’s what it looked like,” one neighbor said.

However, the issue is not just in Houston. There are hundreds of companies in the US and China that provide birthing tourism locations for expectant mothers looking to have American-born children. There are locations in Miami, the Northern Mariana Islands, and other US locations.
