Update #3 []: Amazon Web Services say it’s resolved all issues with its services, which means the PSN should come back online imminently.
At the time of this update, I’m still experiencing a variety of issues across the whole network. While my recently played games had returned, they’re now gone again. I was also able to temporarily see my friends list, but can’t again now.
There are signs things are improving as the PS Store is now accessible, although clicking on any content brings up the error message ‘Content Can’t Be Found’.

Across the Push Square team, we’re all seeing various different stages of improvement and recovery.
I’d expect things to slowly resolve over the next hour or so, but will continue monitoring the situation and will update when appropriate.
Sony’s service page still says everything is “up and running”, which is simply not true – even if there are now signs of life.
Update #2 []: Amazon Web Services, the likely culprit behind the ongoing PSN downtime, has issued a statement on its ongoing recovery efforts.
It seems it expects functionality to be fully restored shortly, although it’ll take a little more time.
Here’s what it said:
As routes continue to be restored, customers should see a continued reduction in error rates and timeouts when connecting to affected services. We are monitoring recovery progress closely and will continue working until all routes have been fully restored and service metrics return to pre-event levels. We will provide another update in the next 30-45 minutes.
Functionality is definitely improving, so we should see service return to normal within the next hour or two.
Update #1 []: After an outage which knocked almost all PSN features offline, the service is seemingly beginning to recover.
It looks like Amazon Web Services – which powers a lot of the PSN – had a hiccup earlier today, resulting in widespread issues around the world.
I’ll continue to monitor the situation, but AWS has acknowledged the issues, and has said services are slowly returning to normal.
While your mileage may vary, I’m able to see my friends list again, but features like the PS Store still seem broken on my end.
Sony has yet to acknowledge any issues on its service page.
Original Story: PSN appears to be struggling globally, with Sony’s official status page saying “all services are up and running”.
Down Detector shows a huge spike in reports over the past few hours in the US, which is gradually easing. In the UK, more reports are coming in as time passes.
From my end, the entire network is down, including even game downloads and the PS App.
I can’t see my most recently played games, Trophies, or browse my friends list or connect to game servers.
Chatting with the rest of the Push Square team, we’re all experiencing issues – although our mileage varies.
Some of us can’t even verify our game licenses to play digital games – not exactly ideal in this non-physical era Sony’s trying to force us into.
Others are able to at least see their recently played games, but the PS Store is mostly broken. It seems like even the web-based PS Store is offline.
Meanwhile, the Marvel Tokon beta – out today – is showing a ‘Network Error’ on PS5.
I’ll continue to monitor the situation and contact Sony for an update. In the meantime, do let me know how you’re getting on in your country via the comments section.
