PlayStation State Of Play: What Time, Where To Watch, What To Expect – Forbes

God of War

Sony Santa Monica

While there are frequently big video game events, including PlayStation State of Play showcases, scattered throughout the year, this one seems a bit special. This time, the PS5 showcase is a full-on hour, and even being shown in select movie theaters, which is certainly more than a bit eyebrow-raising. But first, let’s go through the central questions.

What Time is the PlayStation State of Play Today?

  • Tuesday, June 2 at 2:00pm PT, 5:00pm ET, 11:00pm CEST
  • June 3 at 6:00am JST

Where to Watch the PlayStation State of Play Today?

That would be on the PlayStation YouTube page and its Twitch channel.

However, there are also Alamo Drafthouse showings around the country (tickets may be gone this late):

  • Raleigh
  • Los Angeles
  • San Francisco Bay Area
  • Chicago
  • Dallas/Fort Worth
  • New York City

What To Expect from the PlayStation State of Play

Well, here’s where things get interesting. There are no confirmed leaks about what’s airing today, though there are a lot of joke ones going around. One we know about for sure is a big feature for Marvel’s Wolverine, the Insomniac game that is out this fall and will be one of PlayStation’s biggest. Many may not realize just how big Insomniac’s Spider-Man games are for Sony, but Spider-Man 2, for instance, is one of the top-selling games of the PS5 generation, if not #1. So Wolverine is a very big deal.

Another widespread theory is that we will get the first look at the next God of War game, a spinoff starring Kratos’ wife Faye, played by Deborah Ann Woll. She is Atreus’ mother and a frost giant, and we know from the last two games that she is a wildly skilled fighter and faced off against both Thor and Kratos (pre-marriage). To be clear, this is not the next mainline God of War game, which we know little about, and it seems obvious that it would star Kratos. Many believe that he may move on to the pantheon of Egyptian gods, but nothing about this is confirmed, and it is unlikely it’s revealed today.

There’s also the far-flung Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, the long-gestating Naughty Dog game a new sci-fi IP that is the studio’s first in ages after four full Uncharted games and two The Last of Us titles (a third has been hinted at for a while now). Intergalactic has only gotten a very short teaser, and we’ve seen no real gameplay. It also does not even have a release year, so it may not be shown here at all if, say, the Faye game ends up being the main feature.

Things not to expect? No GTA 6 news or trailer, that’s not Rockstar’s style. No surprise announcement of Destiny 3 after Destiny 2 was just killed off this past week. There are some hopes that Hogwarts Legacy 2 might show up, but there’s nothing to indicate that’s the case.

I’m just looking for Fairgames news, that’s all I’m here for.
