Terry Brown, pastor of Greater Harvest Ministries Church in Holly Hill, Florida, has denied knowing her church property was being used as the headquarters of a deadly criminal enterprise after her son and grandson were among more than two dozen people arrested on drug and weapons charges Tuesday.
The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that the pastor’s son, Ermando Lewis, 47, and her 17-year-old grandson, Logic Lewis, were among the suspects arrested Tuesday during “Operation Holy Rollers.”
Volusia Sheriff Mike Chitwood said in a video posted on the Volusia Sheriff’s Office Facebook page that they secured 10 search warrants for properties and over 50 arrest warrants for the group with a base at a house next door to the church that calls themselves the “Cutthroat Killers.”
“You have one building dedicated to quote-unquote ‘saving souls’ and the other building that was dedicated to destroying souls,” Chitwood said in a statement to News 6.
He explained that his office began working with the Daytona Beach Police more than a year ago to investigate the group connected to fatal drug overdoses and murders.
“The primary warrants centered on narcotics trafficking, manufacturing, and possession, yielding significant seizures of fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, MDMA, cannabis products, drug manufacturing equipment, firearms (including altered/serial‑number‑removed weapons), and cash,” a statement from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said.
“Several high‑level offenders were arrested on trafficking and armed trafficking charges, with many held on no-bond status due to the severity of offenses. Additional subjects encountered during the operation were connected to other active investigations.”
Ermando Lewis was charged with multiple drug offenses and was given no bond. It was noted that he “appeared to have ingested an unknown substance and had to be administered Narcan” and hospitalized before he was eventually jailed.
Logic Lewis was arrested on three outstanding juvenile warrants in addition to multiple drug and weapons charges, including being the subject of a Daytona Beach shooting investigation.
When confronted with the allegations against her son and grandson, Brown told News 6 she had rented out the property to help men who had nowhere else to live.
“My kids were not running no operation out of the house, no. Not that we were aware of anyways,” she said. “My son lived there and it was a rooming house, and so I’d rent out to guys who didn’t have anywhere to live.”
Chitwood insisted, however, that Pastor Brown’s claims of ignorance are irresponsible.
“When you say things like, ‘Oh, my son’s innocent,’ or ‘I didn’t know what was going on,’ or ‘I’m a property owner, that’s not my responsibility,’ you’re damn right, you’re just as responsible as everybody else is,” he told News 6.
“That is the things they do. They shall not inherit the Kingdom of God,” he stated during a recording of Tuesday’s raid shared on Facebook. “This is a church on Sunday that is tax-exempt, I’m sure, that is being used as a headquarters by a bunch of thugs.”
