Aug. 19 (UPI) — An Ohio man stopped at a gas station just after midnight on his 18th birthday and walked out with a lottery ticket worth $10,000.
The Lewis Center resident, identified only as Austin, told Ohio Lottery officials he and a friend stopped at a gas station just after midnight on Aug. 6, his 18th birthday.
Austin decided to buy a scratch-off lottery ticket as “sort of a joke” since it was finally legal for him to do so, and he selected a $20 $300 Million Diamond Dazzler game.
The player’s beginner’s luck paid off with a $10,000 prize.
Austin’s friend, who is a year older than him, joked: “This is not how adult life goes!”
The winner said he is planning to put his winnings toward a new vehicle.
