April 20 (UPI) — An Ohio man on his way home for Easter stopped at a gas station and used a borrowed “lucky scratcher” to uncover a $50,000 lottery prize.
The Mingo Junction man told Ohio Lottery officials he stopped for gas at the Speedway on Allen Road in Octa while on his way home from Easter and saw another customer scratching off a lottery ticket.
The woman inspired the man to buy a ticket of his own, an Ultimate $5,000,000 scratch-off, but he quickly realized he had a problem — he didn’t have any coins.
The woman offered the player her “lucky scratcher,” and he used it to reveal a $50,000 prize.
The player handed the woman $100, over her protestations, and rushed out to his car to call his wife.
The winner said his prize money will be used to pay off some bills, help his daughter put a down payment on a car and take his wife on a vacation to Myrtle Beach.
