‘Obama Whisperer’ Puts BDS Activist in Charge of Setting Dem Foreign Policy

The ‘Obama bros’ are still having their say and they’re determined to continue pushing their party down the path of radical extremism. They’re now taking a victory lap in having gotten their party to support abolishing ICE and Israel. And of course they’re only doubling down.

Freedom Center Investigates exposed Maher Bitar when he was first embedded in Biden’s National Security Council.

“Why Is Georgetown Providing a Platform for This Dangerous Group?” an op-ed in the Washington Post had asked.

The group was the Palestine Solidarity Movement, a BDS anti-Israel hate group whose conferences had a history of antisemitism, supporting Hamas and the murder of Jews.

Maher Bitar, one of the executive board members of Students for Justice in Palestine, was one of the principal organizers of the 2006 conference which was being hosted by Georgetown University’s SJP hate group. A photo appears to show him dancing in a keffiyah in front of a banner reading, “Divest from Israel Apartheid”.

A few years later, Bitar could be found presenting at a Sabeel conference featuring some of the worst bigots like Rebecca Vilkomerson of JVP ,who had invited a terrorist to address the BDS hate group, and Richard Falk, who had endorsed a book which wondered whether “Hitler might have been right after all”.

Now Ben Rhodes, the infamous ‘Obama whisperer’, who shaped much of Obama’s foreign policy, appears to be putting Maher Bitar in charge of a ‘foreign policy’ group intended to push Democrats even further leftwards.

National Security Action, an influential Democratic foreign policy organization that launched in 2018 and helped staff the Biden administration, is returning to the political arena with a new leader, Maher Bitar, who has served in high-level defense and intelligence roles on Capitol Hill and in the White House, the group confirmed on Sunday.

Ben Rhodes, a former deputy national security advisor in the Obama administration who is now a leading left-wing critic of Israel, co-founded NSA with Jake Sullivan, most recently Biden’s national security advisor. Sullivan drew headlines last year when he came out in support of withholding arms to Israel, an argument he reiterated last month on “Real Time With Bill Maher” while defending the majority of Senate Democrats who had recently voted to block some weapons sales to the Jewish state.

Both sit on NSA’s board and will be involved in the group, Rhodes told Axios, saying he is invested in building a “pipeline” to help “populate a Democratic administration” as well as crafting “ideas that can form a progressive or Democratic foreign policy going forward.”

A former senior foreign policy official in the Biden administration, who was granted anonymity to address a sensitive issue, told JI that Bitar “was part of a small cohort of senior White House advisors who worked to actively undermine President Biden’s policy preferences by inserting their own anti-Israel ideology, especially” following Hamas’ Oct. 7 attacks.

What’s revealing is who supports this. And that includes Haile Soifer who has revamped what used to be a Jewish Democrat group into a shadow anti-Israel operation while claiming to be pro-Israel.

“Maher has held multiple high-level national security positions in government — in the House, in the Senate and in the Biden and Obama administrations — where he was deeply respected for his pragmatism, depth and expertise,” said Halie Soifer, CEO of the Jewish Democratic Council of America. “I enjoyed working with Maher in the Obama administration and think National Security Action is lucky to have him at the helm.”

Jewish Democrats who are pro-Israel and continuing to support the JDCA are essentially supporting the anti-Israel lobby. And they needn’t wonder why the Democrats are becoming anti-Israel. This is a long march operation and putting an anti-Israel BDS activist at the helm of a foreign policy pressure group is just the latest move.

“Why Is Georgetown Providing a Platform for This Dangerous Group?” is now “Why Is the Democratic Party Providing a Platform for This Dangerous Group?”
