Apple is rumored to have a special 20th anniversary iPhone coming next year, but according to a new report, this won’t be a standalone new model, but rather an all-new design for the iPhone Pro line.
Report says 20th anniversary iPhone isn’t a separate model, but rather a new design for Pro line
The iPhone lineup has been shaken up a lot lately. Last year the iPhone Air replaced iPhone Plus, and this fall the first iPhone Ultra is coming.
Rumors have long indicated that Apple is also preparing a special model for 2027, timed for the 20th anniversary of the iPhone.
It’s expected to have a quad-curved display that looks bezel-free. And it may only have a small camera cutout, though some rumors have said Apple aims to remove all glass cutouts entirely.
Mark Gurman originally reported at Bloomberg that this would be a special ‘Pro’ model. But more recently, Gurman and other reports have made it sound more like a separate model entirely.
However, a new report from analyst Jeff Pu seen by 9to5Mac indicates this 20th anniversary design is actually intended for Apple’s Pro line. From the report:
we expect the 2H27’s 20th iPhone launch to shift the innovation focus to mainstream iPhone Pro+Max models, featuring 4-edge round display with ongoing design efforts on under-display cameras at front.
This lines up with Bloomberg’s original report, in which Gurman referenced a “bold new Pro model that makes more extensive use of glass.”
If Pu is correct, then Apple isn’t planning a special 20th anniversary iPhone model. Instead, it has a special, all-new design coming for 2027’s iPhone Pro and Pro Max models.
