July 27 (UPI) — A North Carolina woman bought a scratch-off lottery ticket for the first time in her life and scored a $100,000 top prize.
Gastonia resident Kahla Jeffries told North Carolina Education Lottery officials she stopped for gas at Will’s Food Store on Hickory Grove Road in Gastonia and decided to buy a scratch-off lottery ticket for the first time.
“That one just caught my eye,” Jeffries said.
The ticket, a $100,000 Cash Payday game, turned out to be a $100,000 winner.
“I didn’t think I was looking at it right,” Jeffries said.
Jeffries said her prize money will go toward a new car and saving for school.
