The moderate Islamic terrorist state of Talibanastan (they must be moderate, after all we did a deal with them and we’re still negotiating with them) has explained that in its moderate approach to Islamic law, beating women is encouraged, but they draw the line at breaking bones.
Truly, Islamists in America have told us that Mohammed was the original feminist.
The Taliban has passed a law that allows men to beat their wives as long as it does not cause “broken bones or open wounds”.
The Telegraph obtained the 60-page penal code – signed by Hibatullah Akhundzada, the Taliban supreme leader, and distributed to courts across Afghanistan – which classifies spousal beatings as “ta’zir” – discretionary punishment – rather than a criminal act.
A husband may strike his wife and children freely, provided the violence does not leave visible bone fractures or open wounds.
Even where serious injury can be proven, the maximum sentence is 15 days in prison.
Article 34 says that a woman who goes to her parents’ home without her husband’s permission – even to escape violence – faces up to three months in prison. Family members who shelter her face the same sentence.
The code explicitly distinguishes between “free” citizens and “slaves.”
This is Islam. Every last part of it grounded in the Koran, in the crimes of Mohammed and in Sharia Islamic law.
The Taliban aren’t doing anything extraordinary here. They’re just dropping the pretense maintained by some.
Since Islam is moderate, then beating women is moderate too. We can only condemn the extremists who beat women so hard that they break bones.
Much as Al Qaeda is now moderate because we support its takeover of Syria. We currently draw the line at ISIS (just not so much so that we didn’t let Syria’s Al Qaeda terrorists liberate ISIS terrorists and not so much so that we haven’t spread them around the world to ‘clean out’ the ISIS camps so the Turks could put down the Kurds) but eventually another even ‘purer’ Islamic movement will arise and we’ll acknowledge that ISIS is really moderate.
When we mainstream evil, it’s just a matter of sliding relativism scales. First it’s beating women, then it’s breaking their bones and then cutting their throats will prove to be moderate. Just as we went from negotiating with the PLO to negotiating with Hamas, to negotiating with the Taliban and Al Qaeda, we’ll negotiate with ISIS too. Once you get into bed with evil, there’s no bottom. It’s an endless fall down.
As PBS says, “It would be anachronistic to claim that Muhammad was a feminist in our modern sense. Yet the same present-day barriers to women’s equality prevailed in 7th century Arabia, and he opposed them. Because in his own lifetime Muhammad improved women’s position in society, many modern Muslims continue to value his example, which they cite when pressing for women’s rights.”
Apart from the legalized rape, beatings, and hijabs, Mohammed really did a lot for women. And his followers are doing a lot for women today.
