Communist New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is being accused of cultural erasure after seemingly ‘forgetting’ one of the Big Apple’s most historic immigrant groups while virtue signaling.

As The New York Post reported, Mamdani released a map on Wednesday titled “New York City Immigrant Enclaves.”

The map shows about 30 areas across the Big Apple’s five boroughs, ranging from places like Chinatown in Manhattan to Little Mexico in Brooklyn and Little Africa in the Bronx.

Other enclaves include Little Guyana and Little Bangladesh in Queens.

But students of history will quickly notice a critical migrant group in New York City that lacks representation: the Italians. As shown in the map above, Little Italy is nowhere to be seen.

The Italians literally helped build key parts of modern-day New York City, including the subway system. They have also played incredibly important cultural roles, including representing the Big Apple in several classic films and introducing some of the world’s best food.

Councilwoman Joann Ariola (R-Queens) was dumbfounded at the glaring snub of Little Italy.

“They were able to get a Little Bhod-Tibet in there, but what about the original ‘Little neighborhood,’ Little Italy?” she asked the Post.

Joseph Scelsa, founder of the Italian-American Museum on Mulberry Street, also viewed the omission of ” Little Italy” as outrageous.

“Italian-Americans are still a major population in New York City. To not recognize where Italian-Americans came from and settled is a terrible mistake,” he told The Post. “I don’t understand why Little Italy isn’t included. I hope it’s an oversight.”

Many others certainly do not think it’s an oversight, including civil rights groups. They suspect something more sinister is at play.

In addition to omitting Little Italy, the map also ignores NYC’s large Orthodox Jewish community and the Irish. Like the Italians, these communities are also white.

This is not surprising because white immigrants do not count in the eyes of the left. Just ask the Afrikaners from South Africa.
