Feb. 23 (UPI) — An Ohio woman bought a scratch-off lottery ticket selected for her by a store clerk and won a prize of $40,000 a year for 25 years.
The Lorain County woman told Ohio Lottery officials she visited the Saini Stores Sunoco on Akron Road North in Wadsworth and the store’s clerk encouraged her to buy a $30 Extreme Millions scratch-off ticket.
“Pick this one. It’s probably a winner,” the clerk told the woman.
The player said she initially balked at the ticket’s price, but relented and purchased the ticket.
The woman scratched the ticket off in the car with her husband and rushed back inside to show the clerk when she revealed the prize of $40,000 a year for 25 years.
The player decided to take her winnings as a one-time payment of $500,000. She said her prize money will go toward buying new vehicles and bolstering her savings.
