Jan. 29 (UPI) — A miniature donkey named Dolly Parton wandered away from her owner’s farm in Michigan and was rounded up by Michigan State Police.
MSP Second District said on social media that troopers were dispatched to Holly Township, Oakland County, on Tuesday when Dolly Parton the donkey was reported to have exited her farm through a pasture gate that had been left open.
“Troopers canvassed the area and were able to locate Dolly taking a stroll along a roadway in the township and turn her over to her owners unharmed,” the post said.
Jason Freeman, Dolly’s owner, said the donkey had escaped about 8 p.m. alongside another donkey named Henry. Henry returned on his own around 9 p.m., but Freeman contacted authorities for help when Dolly remained on the lam.
Dolly was safely returned home shortly after 10:30 p.m.
Freeman said it was a reminder about proper farm safety protocols.
“You know, we just have to make sure when we go through a gate that we close the gate behind us. Just know that if they get an opportunity to wander, they’re going to wander,” Freeman told WXYZ-TV.
