Dec. 11 (UPI) — Police in Michigan are trying to find the owner of a small and friendly pig found wandering loose in Saginaw Township.

The Saginaw Township Police Department said the approximately 20-pound pig approached a resident shoveling snow Wednesday morning in the area of the Lawndale Estates mobile home park.

“We are always accepting applications and accidentally found our newest recruit,” the department joked on social media.

Sgt. Brian Anderson said the pig is believed to be a pet that escaped from a nearby home.

“It’s definitely a pet because it actually smells like vanilla,” Anderson told Spectrum Local News. “I don’t know if they sprayed perfume on it or something, but I mean it’s well cared for.”

The pig is now in the care of Saginaw County Animal Control while officials attempt to find its owner.
